NorthWest Crossing, Bend, Oregon

For more than ten years now, the NorthWest Crossing neighborhood has been growing with a development plan that is unique in Bend.  From the beginning the plan has been to incorporate sustainability in the form of environmentally friendly homes into a neighborhood that is designed to allow residents to walk or bike to work, school, restaurants and shopping.  The result has been very popular with approximately 600 homes being built in NorthWest Crossing and more being built every day.  It is one of the few areas in Bend where homes actually managed to hold on to most of their value when the housing market burst.  In fact, there are spec homes being built there today.

What makes the award winning NorthWest Crossing (NWX) so popular?   I think it comes from a strong sense of community that results when there are so many people who like the idea of being able to walk to work and send their kids to a school within walking distance from their homes.  Another factor is when you spend so much time in and around your neighborhood you are bound to know more of the people who live and work there too.  Work and schools aren’t the only things within walking distance.  There are dentists, doctors, attorneys, restaurants, shopping and more.  Also making NWX desirable is the fact that it is not a cookie-cutter neighborhood.  Walking down the street you would be hard pressed to find two homes with the same floor plan.  While the homes don’t all look the same they are all built to Earth Advantage Standards.  That means all homes built in NWX are graded and certified based on their energy efficiency, healthy indoor air quality, resource efficiency, environmental responsibility and water conservation.

NorthWest Crossing is not for everyone but those who live there love it.  In fact, I can’t think of another neighborhood, in Bend or anywhere else, where I have heard so many people say they love living there.  If you would like to learn more about living in NorthWest Crossing and the homes that are for sale there please give us a call.  We’d love to give you a tour and show you some homes.
