The home sales numbers for June 2011 are out. I don’t see anything that is earth shattering but there are a few interesting tidbits. The most important one is that average price per square foot has fallen almost 4% since June 2010, from $119 to $115. For people buying homes in Bend and Central Oregon this is obviously good news. Additional good news for buyers is that the number of houses to choose from has been growing steadily since March from 1847 homes for sale to 2369. Historically the number of listed houses peaks in late August and September.
The bad news for home sellers is that there are more houses on the market competing for buyers. In this market, finding a realtor who can help make your home stand out in a crowd is important. Especially when part of the competition is bank owned homes that are almost always priced better than conventional sales.
