Destination Resort: Brasada Ranch

The newest resort in Central Oregon is Brasada Ranch.  Built buy Jeld-Wen Development, Inc. near Powell Butte in 2007, the ranch was originally intended as an exclusive luxury home and golf resort.  However, the economy didn’t cooperate and Jeld-Wen decided (or was forced) to sell the resort to Northview Hotel Group in November of 2010.  Northview bought the resort with the intention of converting it to a destination resort and recently completed a $3 million upgrade to the property and amenities.

The money was spent adding luxury suites to the Ranch House, completing the spa, and adding a restaurant.  The spa and the equestrian center are the only two amenities that are open to the public.  There are 900 acres within the ranch for horseback riding with thousands more adjoining the property.  Horses can be rented at the equestrian center or you can bring your own and board them there.  The 18 hole golf course designed by Peter Jacobsen is only available to owners and resort guests.  I have read a few reviews of the course and it sounds like you definitely need a cart to play this course.  No two holes run parallel to each other.  What resort would be complete without a swimming pool?  Brasada has two outdoor pools, five hot tubs, and an indoor lap pool.  You can also find cardio and strength equipment, athletic and volleyball courts, and two tennis courts inside the 17,000 square foot athletic center.  There is also a “refuge” at Brasada called the Hideout for kids (ages 3-9) and young adults (ages 10-17).  If you have kids this sounds like a pretty cool place for them to hang out while you play 18 holes or spend a few hours fishing the Deschutes.  Speaking of the Deschutes, guided white water rafting trips can also be arranged through the resort.

If you are looking for a second home or to invest in a vacation rental in a luxury resort setting, Brasada Ranch could be the place for you.  In 2007 Brasada Ranch was named Community of the Year by Builder, the magazine of the National Association of Home Builders.  The resort encompasses a total of 1800 acres with half of that designated as open space so it doesn’t have the density of homes that Sunriver and Eagle Crest resorts have.  Homes are built on .25 to .33 acre lots and range in price from $249,000 for a two bedroom, two bath cabin to $1,395,000 for a four bedroom, 4.5 bath, 4376 square foot home.  If you would rather build your own custom home, lots are available from $45,000 to $275,000.  Call or email us today for a complete list of homes and lots that are for sale in Brasada Ranch.
